K a disabled kid to do so, so be it.

2. People with disabilities want to be treated like everyone else (I didn't really learn that from playing sports, I learned it from pushing a cripple down the stairs, but that's a whole new story..) If you're going to walk a good hitter to get to a bad one, don't change your mind just because the kid had cancer once upon a time.

3. If you're going to cry about being a bad player, then try harder. It doesn't take much more than a summer of daily practice to become good at a sport on that level. If you don't feel like putting in the effort then go take a fingerpainting course at the local Boys and Girls Club. Who knows, you could be the next Andy Warhol or Jean-Michel Basquiat.

4. The most unsportsmanlike thing you can do is complain about somebody else being unsportsmanlike. Alls fair in love and war (as long as you follow the rule book, no fucking cheaters.)

That's life guys and it's about time the whiney authors at Sports IllustratedMSNBCKSL

Also, the coaches that made the decision didn't know beforehand that the kid was a cancer survivor. As for the kids response on the entire issue?

By the way, the next morning, Romney woke up and decided to do something about what happened to him.

"I'm going to work on my batting," he told his dad. "Then maybe someday I'll be the one they walk."

Atta boy.

I read this and was quickly pissed off...not becuase of what the coaches did, but the way everyone was reacting to it (Rick Reilly being the one that I read). It's the championship game of a half competitive half non competitive league. As the coach you're gonna want to make your players as happy as possible, and like you said nothing does that like winning a game (let alone a championship). And that reporter for MSNBC is a complete and total douchebag...he should probably learn a thing or two before writing anything ever again. However I think the real question here is why was the worst hitter batting right after their best hitter?

Oh, and to add to that I'd like to say that I'm glad to see that the kid wants to use the hard experience of not winning the championship game for the team and turn it into something positive by becoming better. Good for him

yourself: Yeah, I generally don't mind Rick Reilly but that article was absolutely ridiculous. In addition to the winning factor, the coaches also need to teach the kids good baseball strategy and I think they did.

As for the moron at MSNBC, I agree, he should throw his computer/typewriter/pen in a dumpster and go look for a job flipping burgers somewhere. That article was the most unobjective, insult laden, piece of shit I've read in a long time. I really loved the part that basically said 'Cursing by parents is ok, so is fighting, but the most evil thing they can do is smoke in the vicinity of a ballpark!' What the hell does that have to do with ANYTHING whatsoever?

As for why he was batting right after their best hitter, I can only guess that because it's one of those 'play all the kids' leagues, they substituted him in the late innings. As for why they would have someone bad enough to be substituted for hitting after their clean-up guy, no clue ;X

I was searching for a response from the kid because both articles totally ignored his point of view (way to run away with an issue and not even ask the subject how they felt) when I came upon him saying he was gonna work on his hitting. That's how it should be.
