He isn't stating that he is proud of the hypocrisy. If anything he is stating that they need to start taking responsibility for their behavior and stop keeping themselves from advancing in life by calling themselves nigger and spending all their cash on frivolous things like jewelry.
It is about time someone in rap said these kind of things.

Dude, I looked up some of his lyrics afterwards and his lyrics ALL say 'nigga this nigga that' 'I rock bling at a high school prom' and other shit like that. If he is indeed turning it around and taking responsibility, more power to him. It just doesn't seem that way when his music STILL promotes violence and drugs.

Well, based on what I read in your post that is what I got. You should post up them lyrics and then be like... "well so much for that shit." I was just going on what dude was saying in your quote.
I doubt shit is going to change anytime soon, but still at least some one has a clue if not the will to change the market.

To be honest I was just making an assumption when I wrote the post that his lyrics were hypocritical of what he was saying; my assumption turned out to be right.
I agree tho, at least he realizes what he's taking part in :\
